The Burgundy region of Beaujolais is clearly identified with fresh young wine.  The most extreme examples are whisked around the world each November and sold as Beaujolais Nouveau.  This perfectly enjoyable, light, incredibly young wine has come to represent the entire Beaujolais region for many consumers.  This was hardly a tragedy.  The wine can be wonderfully fresh, easy to understand, and easy to afford.  It is adaptable to casual circumstances and good with almost any sort of food.  Further, many people enjoy drinking their Beaujolais Nouveau chilled.  So, although the region has much more to offer, there is reason enough to celebrate the arrival of Beaujolais Nouveau!

This year the magic day is Thursday, November 19th, exactly one week before Thanksgiving.  This makes it possible for us to enjoy the traditional first wine of the harvest year with our holiday dinners.  Expedient shipping arrangements have also made the wine more affordable (last year, for the first time in over 25 years, we received no Beaujolais Nouveau, because air-freight arrangements had resulted in rather painful prices).  This year we have pre-ordered a significant quantity of Beaujolais Nouveau from Mommessin., and offer it in pre-order at the lowest prices in many years!  This promises to be an excellent vintage and it will arrive in its prime.
